David Cox's description of David Lynch's The Straight Story that Mark Kermode considers one of the finest, pithiest pieces of film criticism. Indeed, Mark liked the phrase so much that he used it to open his book Hatchet Job - a discussion of film criticism and its place in the modern world.

Cox's comment actually came as the lights were going down at the press screening - so ironically, Mark's high-watermark of film criticism was actually someone reviewing a movie they hadn't seen.

Mark would later lovingly homage Cox's work with his own description of The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button as "Forrest Gump with A-levels."
