The film has arguably not stood the test of time overly much, often appearing in lists of worst Best Film winners. Although Mark rated it alongside A History Of Violence as his favourite film of 2005, his own opinion began to change over time, not least because of director Paul Haggis' involvement with The Last Kiss.

The film did at least bring Sandra Bullock back into Mark's good books for a short period after a series of very poor role choices in which she had really let him down.
